What is Type 44A / Spec 44 Wire?

Spec 44 wire boasts a dual-layer design, combining materials that enhance both strength and chemical resistance. It's lightweight, highly flame-retardant, and can handle temperatures up to 150°C (302°F). Initially crafted for aerospace and military uses, it's now broadly applied in industries requiring reliable performance under tough conditions.

What is Tri-Rated Cable?

Tri-Rated Cable is a high-temperature, flame-retardant electrical wire designed for use inside electrical equipment. It meets the requirements of three international standards - BS 6231, UL 758, and CSA 22.2 - making it suitable for use in equipment that must comply with both North American and British wiring regulations.

What is 2491B / 6701B LSZH flexible panel wire?

2491B / 6701B Flexible Panel Wire is a single-core, Low-Smoke, Zero-Halogen (LSZH) flexible cable designed for use in control, relay, and instrumentation panels, as well as internal wiring of appliances. It is flame-retardant and suitable for applications where smoke and toxic fumes are a concern.

What is the difference between 3182Y, 3183Y, 3184Y and 3185Y PVC flex cables?

The key differences between the 3182Y, 3183Y, 3184Y, and 3185Y PVC flex cables are:

  • 3182Y is a 2-core cable
  • 3183Y is a 3-core cable
  • 3184Y is a 4-core cable
  • 3185Y is a 5-core cable

The cables also differ in their conductor sizes, voltage ratings, and current carrying capacities, with the higher core count variants generally having larger conductor sizes and higher voltage/current ratings.

Why use arctic cable?

Arctic cables are designed to withstand extreme cold temperatures, with a flexible PVC sheath that remains pliable down to -40°C. This makes them suitable for outdoor applications in frigid climates where standard cables may become stiff and brittle. The temperature resistance and flexibility of arctic cables ensure reliable performance in harsh winter conditions.

What is the difference between yellow and blue arctic cable?

Yellow Arctic cable is typically used for 110V applications, such as construction site equipment.

Blue Arctic cable is used for 230V/240V mains power applications, such as portable traffic lights or other outdoor equipment.

Both cables are designed to withstand extreme temperatures from -40°C to +70°C.

What is twin and earth cable used for?

Twin and earth cables are a versatile electrical cable used extensively in fixed wiring installations to safely distribute power. Its flexible, flat design and inclusion of an earth conductor make it suitable for a wide range of residential, commercial, and industrial applications.

When would you use shielded cable?

Shielded cable is used to prevent electromagnetic interference (EMI) and radio frequency interference (RFI) from affecting the signals being transmitted. The conductive shield around the cable's core blocks external electrical fields, ensuring data or audio signals are not corrupted. This makes shielded cable ideal for applications requiring high signal integrity.
